Remember those free-form concrete structures that were popular for a while? I think they were actually built on a frame with wire mesh covering it like lathe. Then, the concrete was sprayed onto the mesh. I think I first saw those in The Whole Earth Catalog.

I think that's a Land Rover Defender, not a G-Wagon. Why did they put nylon tents inside it? I wonder how much earth load it can bear? Why does it only have a 10 year lifespan? I wonder what it looks like inside without the inner lining.

Interesting, but basically just a hardened tent that can only be used once.

Considering the age and condition of the "temporary" tents at deployed tent cities around the world, it's not a bad idea. The standard 10 man (12 man?) tents used in Air Force tent cities are low force protection fire hazards. Fire is a hazard for everyone since they're densely packed, small arms and mortar is a threat since they're thin.

In this scenario, the concrete arch is basically a form for sand/dirt overfill. Assuming the unit cost is low-ish, I could easily see using these when setting up a "temporary" base that'll be there for years. Basically a rapidly functional quonset hut.
