Found my next boat!

Its an Albemarle 27, one came up for sale around here and I went and looked at it. I love everything about it. Built like a tank, excellent layout, nice deep V hull and since its a Carolina boat plenty of flair in the bow. Nice cockpit, wide open with plenty of rod holders and a salt water wash down.

Judging by how the hull looks she probably isn't the fastest boat around but she looks like a good sea boat that won't beat you up when it gets snotty.

Has a pair of 5.7L Volvo small blocks, with 775 hours on them. Shouldn't be to gas hungry, but its crying for a pair of Cummins B series.

Now I just need to get out of some property to free up the money to buy it.

She will hold me over until I can afford what I really want!

BTW Swamp when I get it your going to have to come down and go fishing.

Based on the background, are you sure that boat is 27 foot long?

Yes its a big 27ft though, I'm sure by the time the marina measures it and includes the bow pulpit and swim platform its going to grow to 31-33. At $125 a ft.

So do you have a deposit down on this bad boy?

Will the seller wait while you try and unload some property?

Nah not yet, the boat market is pretty slow so I don't think it will be going anywhere anytime soon. It just went for sale so I'm thinking the owner might be more receptive to offers after it sits for a bit longer.

If it does sell I found another one in MA with diesels.

So long ass it isn't called the " NEVER AGAIN II " then it is probably a great boat, go for it.

The other one is more like a small yacht, it looks like..

The 27' one looks like maybe you could put it on a trailer, but could your pickup pull it? I'd think an extended cab or a Suburban, something with a Duramax, Cummins or Powerstroke would be a better tow vehicle.

Hopefully you could avoid monthly berth fees if you stored in when not in use? Those monthly fees, if you can even GET one) for a space are a killer in San Francisco, at the St. Francis Yacht club in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in SF. The Corinthian Yacht Club (on the other side) is just as bad.

Hope it works out for ya!!!

And of course, you can drink all you want when you are out on the boat!!

Drinjking and fishing are a great combination, lotsa fun !!!!

Albemarle boats are as tough as nails, built for the rough stuff off the Carolinas. Even at 27', this boat will fish like a much bigger boat.

Off course, you know about getting a full survey including engines.

And, although not as bad as some, those twins will be thirsty.

I don't know if twin diesels can be retro'ed in due to weight but you can ask around.

My 25' Albemarle was the best. I now have a 30' Grady and I would buy another Albie in a minute.

When the time comes I'll spring for a survey, but its mostly to get a second opinion. I have been working on boats my entire life and did it for a living for awhile so I know my way around.

I think a pair for 4cy diesels either Yanmar or Cummins would fit, but I don't think I'd re power it. I'll just run it as is.

I expect it to be a bit less thirsty than the 315 Commander my grandfather had with a pair of 454's, those motors loved fuel! More so when the secondaries opened up!

I'm expecting 10-12gph per motor at cruise. A Flowscan which its lacking would probably be a nice upgrade.

Nah to big and a PITA to trailer, but for the winter I'd have them haul it to my friends shop to avoid winter storage fee's. His fee is a bit cheaper, beer. Dockage is $125 a foot around here, the marina will measure it out to probably 30ft. But what can you do its a nice convenient harbor, you get what you pay for. I can dock it on the Housatonic River for about half that but by the time you get out to LIS you will burn the difference in gas and time.

I'm thinking a good name might be "Subdivide". Or maybe my all time favorite which I saw on an Ocean 48 once, "G Spot".

Anchored, the Game and Fish/DNR/Waterborne Sheriffs/Coast Guard will not
bother you.

[Unless, of course, your Supercargo gets Naked (Whilst Drunk) in View or sets the Vessel on Fire, Bar-B-Que-ing whilst Intoxicated.]

They do say the 2 happiest days of a boat owner's life is the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat.
