Why the militant Iron Curtain stance on the shuman forum? I posted some good stuff over there along with others only to go to waste if people can't see it.

Anyhoo, welcome back.

We have our reasons...but its not permanent. We are up and running but only for a select few at the moment. Reason finally triumphed over lunacy here....I'll leave it go at that. No reason to dig that all up at this point. It wouldn't serve any purpose for anyone.

Few years of operating that way seems to be permanent.

Oh well, it is what it is. It could of been a great major forum.

If you ran a site.....you would be aware of bots and spammers..and their incessant attempts...and it takes a proactive approach to keep things under control Places that didn't ended up with major issues down the road. And on the other you have the crowd that seems to never grew out of adolescence who cause more trouble than they provide useful help to anyone. You could write a book on stuff like this and it really is a balancing act. Its a pricey deal to operate a real site once it gets above a certain size and traffic level....and costs rapidly escalate from there.

Its like opening a coffee shop and having a bunch of grade school kids camping out causing trouble and not buying anything....its in your best interest to limit it to the people who actually like and drink coffee.

Trust me....even as a moderator, you really don't and won't have a clue what it really takes. Admins work their butts off in the background just to keep things under control and running smoothly. Few people know the extent, what and how much. And I did give more than a few a chance to redeem themselves which more times than not....they wouldn't. So I gave them the bums rush. How forgiving I was, was always based on their contributions to the site.....

In that aspect....the site owner here, and I understand each other....however there are a few people....who just need to keep their noses and comments to themselves unless they have something constructive or nice to say. They know who they are. They tend to be the ones that cause problems where none existed.

Admins know every thing they do....every thread they visit, every thing they edit.....with timestamps. All in logs only the admins see.....Moderators included, not just regular members. Nothing related to the site goes without the site admin to be able to go back and see everything someone did.

THAT is why Admins have godlike powers.....that mods or supermods don't.

I know what Bill deals with on a daily basis here....and a rough idea of what it costs him. Not many do.

All I can say is I hope that he behaves himself, although at this point its not my problem anymore so whatever.

Maybe I'm totally wrong and Lester will pull a Kirk and came back and behave.

Anyway welcome back Lester and have fun!

I'm on another site that I post on quite a bit. The admin is also a moderator, the web master and the club President. You can just imagine how much dissagreeing with him will get you.

Run kind of like a tree fort with a rope ladder.....

A forum is like an ecosystem, you strive for equilbrium and hope for the best.

Incidentally....being a moderator isn't an open invitation to exercise a Napoleon complex like some people think it is. Site owners and Admins have a huge investment, time and money both. Mods don't have godlike powers....Admins do.

But it seems some people never grow up. I could say a lot of things about a lot of people....but I won't because they aren't worth the effort it would take. And it wouldn't make any of them a better person. So why bother.

Unlike some of them....I have more important things in life to occupy my time and my attention these days.
So what did everyone expect?? For BHD to come back humbly?? Not a chance!!
Welcome back BHD

Hatty, I don't know why on earth the admins wouldn't alert you to forum business. Clearly an oversight.....

Hatty, I don't know why on earth the admins wouldn't alert you to forum business. Clearly an oversight.....

Because the Admin owns and pays for this site. Admins don't have to ask permission to do anything. Since its the admin who has the final say on everything anyway. Yep....that's how it works. He who owns the site calls all the shots. And believe it or not....the mods aren't aware or even cued in to even 5% of site business, on any site. Admins do really deal with that much stuff on a daily basis. Its a lot of work to run a site.

And why should I be required to do anything Humbly?...when I never did anything wrong in the first place. It was all about someone else that had a personal problem.

And thanks for the welcome. Its appreciated.
