I shall assume with a high degree of confidence that you know the history of progressive and conservative movements in this country. Each party has a "base" in which both try to convince that they are disenfanchised from power and are that group's champion. My response was to point out that progressives, liberals, members of the Democratic Party, are not necessarily merely those unable to afford land or pay taxes, as was suggested.
Frankly, is there some virtue in making wealth a criteria for representation?
With regard to your parable about minorities. Women are a minority in other aspects than merely head count. I would think that was self evident.
