I have read that the way men are able to operate in a combat situation is each day they say to themselves. "I will not come back alive". Then they go out and do what has to be done considering themsleves already dead. At the end of the day if they survive they have a beer and celebrate.

For those of us who never have faced it, combat is tough to imagine.

so, your father, instead of seeking psychological help for his post traumatic stress, instead, selfishly, forced his child (children?) to hear - and re-hear, obviously - his horror filled reminiscences, in order that he might achieve some catharsis? sounds pretty pathetic - in the true meaning of the word, i.e. pathos - and abusive. sorry for your pain. hope you have sought help for the after-effects of such abuse.

Yeah, maybe a Tiger II instead, this is a German based forum after all.
Wait, over engineered, leaky gaskets and a gasser, I see.

Yet those T55's are plentiful, read cheap, rugged too.

Cause they are cheap by tank standards, and so are parts. Also you can get rubber tracks for them for road use.

Anything German is off the charts rare and parts have to be custom made so you can't really run them, because if something breaks its like a year and a ton of money.

Also last Panther I saw for sale which wasn't a real one was $400k. Only a handful of real Panthers and Tigers in the world left and when they come up for sale they are very, very expensive.

T55's on the other hand can be bought all day long for $60k-$70k or less, and parts are not a problem to get. Also if you so desire the Russians offer a complete line of upgrades including a 1,200hp diesel.
