You know as well as anyone.....politicians cater to their constituents. These cuts, and breaks are targeted as every other tax or legislation is.

And the house has been under Democrat control far longer than under Republican control.

Interesting observations, but non-responsive to my questions. Tell you what - I'll let you walk away from the first question, but would you mind answering the second question? When you become eligible to collect Social Security, do you intend to do so?

And if it takes a joint session of Congress and going on live Television to get you to do your jobs then that is what it takes. Nothing up to now has motivated you so maybe this will.

Now the ball is in the Republican's court. They can dig in their heels, refuse to do anything that looks like work, and continue to cash their paychecks or they can come out swinging on the individual points laid out by the President.

But just sitting still and hoping the right wing is too stupid to notice their lack of activity is not an option.

Rush Limbaugh has been beating the drum on the 'No Compromise' line since Tom DeLay left office and the Republicans have been lining up behind this because Republican voters don't punish them for not doing their jobs. And, let's face it: It beats working for a living.

So are the Republicans still able to debate in an intelligent way? Hopefully we will find out soon since a lot of independent voters are wondering if the Republicans are ever going to keep their promises to create jobs, jobs, jobs.

Oooops! Looks like the Silver State's US Congressional District #2 will stay Republican by about a 20% electoral margin!

And I'd forgotten about the Obamunista's favorite pervert's Anthony "wanna see my?" Weiner's former seat NY 9th Congressional District that was won today in a special election by the GOP candidate Bob Turner!

Ah! The Obama Electoral Steamroller keeps rolling along, right over the the rumpswabs who hitch their fortunes to the Dear Leader and his failed presidency. Looks like the Dear Leader will be making history again pretty soon as the first Black One Term President in American History.

So how's that theory of the independents "hopefully" turning against the Republican party working our for you Pooki?

People have lives outside the forum....and sleep. I am also on the east coast.

10:30 PM eastern time I generally am not on the forum, its a rare case when I am. And I DID have more important things to do last night than check on threads.

I've been paying into social security for 30 years now....EVERY year. At a rate higher than I can afford to put aside into savings at all between 401K and other savings.

I still have at least another 14 years to be paying into it.....I will have EARNED the right to collect from it as a result. Unlike so many fat people that claim disabilities that haven't paid at all in some cases or have paid little.

I see them every day lining up at the Local SSI office trying to get their couch potato license. People that act like cripples going in, walking out as able bodied as most people. And I'm not talking about wheelchair bound people that can't walk or even stand.

And then there are the illegals and those that immigrated that paid only 10 years or so at most and collect.

Besides, what does SSI have to do with the price of rice in China?

Of course you did, at least after 9:24 PM, which was the time of your last posting of the evening...

I hear you loud and clear - just curious though, once you retire, will you calculate the amount of social security contributions you and your employer made during the course of your working career? Feel free to add a reasonable sum on top of that to represent investment interest. Once you derive that magic number, will you stop accepting Social Security payments if the sum paid out to you post-retirement hits that magic number? Or do you plan to continue to collect?

You like to try to make the case that Democrats like to suck public benefits dry - deriving benefit well in excess of their tax contribution to the "entitlement". Clearly you oppose such behavior. While Social Security contributions technically aren't considered taxes, I was just wondering if you will consider throwing your principles away when it is to your financial advantage. If the answer is "yes", what distinguishes you from those whom you hold in contempt?

So I posted on THIS thread at that time???? I actually have a wife and a house and other things with a higher priority than this thread.

Exactly WHY should the welfare bums...project rats.....and inner city baby factories who have paid NO taxes and in many cases ever held a real job get their "entitlements".......but people that have actually worked and paid taxes for 45+ years into SSI NOT be entitled to get what they paid for? Since thats money they never had availible for a private pension savings plan of any type....and SSI isn't an insignificant part of your paycheck for most people.

Or is this really about liberal entitlements for liberal votors being untouchable by your definition, all in the interest of keeping the Democrat votes they bought.

Incidently....what I have paid into SSI dwarfs what I have been able to set asside thus far...as well as having occured for years longer than I have been able to have enough left over to set asside after paying for the loans I had to take out for college.....thanks to having been born White and male that prevented me from the free ride Obama got at the same time, or any real assistance at all. Non-withstanding the fact my parents did not have a full time job for several years thanks to Jimmy Carter and the mess he made of things.
