Let's See...

From Whom could the Clownistas at T.S.A. have gotten these Psychological and
Physical Studies Ideas from ??

EL AL.

LOOK at the T.S.A. "Employees".
For 99.99% of them 25 YEARS of training in "Profiling" would Only be a Primer.

In Comparison:
You'd do much Better to Stake the 9,10,11,and 12 Year Old Lookouts for your
local Crack dealer to Training And Put them in Airports as Security Officers.
Those Kids would Find ANY Naughty Persons QUICK.

"I'm traveling in my own country, a free country at that. If you're concerned that I'm carrying a bomb, feel free to search my baggage or even strip me naked and look at whatever you need to look at. But it's none of your business where I'm going and what I'm doing on the other end."

PS - I took that approach with the customs orificers who run a checkpoint WITHIN THE US BORDER in California. Refused to answer any questions about my destination or travel plans, showed them my US passport, and opened the trunk to prove it wasn't full of Mexicans -- they said I was free to go.

PPS - I encountered someone with a broken down car in a "not so nice" area of Newark, NJ pretty late at night. Stopped to help, then I saw the TSA uniform. Got back in my car, told him I didn't like people with his job, and drove off. Care to take bets whether a tow truck or a mugger found him first?

PPPS - My sentiments exactly:

Here's another story about TSA and Philly cops going through a woman's personal papers and suspecting that she was robbing her husband. Lovely:

individual rights and liberties have disappeared with the advent of the goon squads. First the airports, next state border crossing "check point charlie" where your automobile or truck will be thoroughly searched by cops with drug sniffing german shephards. You will be herded into an interrogation room where the questioning will begin (under hot bright white lights, of course).

Where are you going? Why are you going there? What is your business there? Why is your mother traveling with you? Why do you drive this brand of car? What is the PIN number of your ATM card?

If they feel you are lying, they will inject you with truth serum so that you will hold nothing back during questioning. Finally, they will ask you to drop your pants so they can inject a RFID chip into your a** (for your own safety and the safety of the traveling public, of course). They will then check the RFID chip to make sure its' GPS system is working as they drop you like a tagged fish back onto the highway.

If you don't behave they will spank you.

Are you allowed a lawyer?

Sure, you can have a lawyer, only his retainer fee is $10,000 payable in advance and that only buys you five hours of his time. Additional hours are purchased at $1000 an hour, payable in advance.

My daughter recently graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. As tough as jobs are to get, she refuses to apply with the TSA. She's just a kid, but sees them as the laughing stock of the law enforcement and justice community.

I am a military brat who used to fly a LOT, both on military planes and commercial passenger planes. However, with the advent of "security theater", I refuse to step foot on a commercial passenger aircraft. I'd rather walk, ride a tricycle or crawl to my destination than be subjected to the humiliation. Plus, think about it, if you are lucky enough to pass the security exam, your reward is getting to fly in a plane full of rude, crude and socially unacceptable morons. Also, since the morons are not trained in emergency procedures aboard an aircraft, their panic mode actions could well get you killed.

thanks, but no thanks.

It also varies widely by airport (i.e. screeners in LGA are good and reasonable in my experience, the bigger airports in NYC are more obnoxious -- they, illegally, didn't let my friend "opt out" of the naked scanner in JFK.)

How about detaining/profileing/hasseling all ex police officers from NY...or white men in dockers slacks..or white men with briefcases..or white men that stay in the bathroom too long while in flight.

As obnoxious as all of this post 9/11 security in airports is, I have to say that almost all of the TSA employees I've run into have been reasonably pleasant, courteous, and seemed to have a sense of humor. I don't know how much more secure we are for having all of these people employed this way.
Ultimately, we have to make a choice between safety (even PERCEIVED safety) and freedom. Most things being cyclical, I'm betting that all of this added "security" will eventually start to wane and air travel will become easier once again. If nothing else, we will have to quit throwing so much money at the Dept. of Homeland Security, because we just can't afford it.

Really depends on the airport. It feels like certain airports that tend to be used more by business travelers (or maybe just smaller airports) tend to have more professional staff than the yobbos in places like JFK and PHX.

This is a very thoughtful post IMHO!
