When was the Rapture do-over coming?

The past couple of days, we've had several guys coming in and loading up on what I would consider subsistence quantities of strictly open-pollinated vegetable seed. A few hundred dollars worth of about 20 different varieties, enough for an acre or so sized garden with some to spare. One guy asked what I would grow if I couldn't go to the grocery store anymore so he obviously wasn't a gardener. One asked me the best way to store seeds and how to save seeds from the vegetables he picked. There were a couple of them waiting in the store while we filled his order and another gentleman came in and asked for a catalog. The new guy and one of the ones waiting got to talking and I hear the other guy say to the one that came in with him, "Hey, he's one of us!"

I know when the last rapture didn't happen, they recalculated and had a new date but I don't remember when that was.

They wouldn't have garnered a second look if you passed them on the street. All middle-aged to older, white dudes. All driving passenger cars, no bumperstickers that gave an obvious clue. But it is a strange time of year to be stocking up on garden seed (although we do sell a lot to the farm workers who bring them back home to the Caribbean for the winter). They were all very polite and paid with credit cards (maybe thinking they'd never have to pay the cc bill? :)).

Anyone know what's up? Am I ill-prepared as usual? :D

I find this to be hilarious. If they know that the rapture is about to occur and they are believers, they don't even need to wash their clothes because they will be gone. If they're not believers, then it's not too late to learn how.

What a hoot!

sorry, but i find the idea of the "rapture" a bit of a "hoot", perhaps because i grew up with people who spouted the beliefs of hal lindsey, which were presented in his 1969 book, the late, great planet earth, wherein he predicted an imminent "rapture'? it's been forty+ years, and nothing has happened?

I don't even know that they're awaiting Rapture, I probably shouldn't have titled the thread that way. It could be another Y2K-type thing or a conspiracy event. I haven't seen or heard anything, but this is way too coincidental.

I take the Rapture very seriously, and I am prepared. :D

If the rapture were to occur, couldn't they just take over an existing farm instead of planting their own?

Harold Camping - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harold Egbert Camping (born July 19, 1921) is an American Christian radio broadcaster.[2] He is president of Family Radio, a California-based radio station group that spans more than 150 markets in the United States. Camping is notable for applying numerology to his interpretations of Bible passages to predict dates for the End Times.[3][4]
His 2011 end times prediction was that on May 21, 2011 Jesus Christ would return to Earth, the righteous would fly up to heaven, and that there would follow five months of fire, brimstone and plagues on Earth, with millions of people dying each day, culminating on October 21, 2011 with the end of the world.[5][6] He had previously predicted judgment days on May 21, 1988, and September 7, 1994.[7][8]
His 2011 prediction was widely reported, and prompted responses from both atheist and Christian organizations.[9][10] After May 21 passed without the predicted incidents, Camping said he believed that a "spiritual" judgment had occurred on that date, and that the physical Rapture would occur on October 21, 2011, simultaneously with the destruction of the universe by God

They're just stocking up on open pollinated seed in advance of the election. After the "free market" is given it's full rein under the new-and-everlasting-tea-party government, Monsanto will patent every seed they can get their slimy hands on.

You should put together official "rapture packets" and charge double for them. Taking idiots to the cleaners is fun and profitable, if you sell enough you can afford a rapture Mercedes.:D

What happens to the dog when you and the believers are whisked away? Animals have no souls, you know. He'll be left behind. :D:D

Ah, but you see, they have an invention for that too. The Rainbow Bridge.
