No longer able to delete Post/Thread

Has the ability to delete posts/threads been removed?

I tried removing a post from yesterday to lower bandwidth to my server and cannot find the option.

I'm not certain of your exact circumstances but I believe as it stands now there is some time certain after which the option is no longer available, perhaps 24 hours?

That always seemed a very heavy handed way for the site owner to deny members control over the content they'd originally provided, maybe under the new ownership that will change, maybe for the better.

You may edit or delete any post that you have authored for a period of exactly 21 days from the date and time of the post.

The rule was instituted to prevent wholesale deletion or sabotage of posts by a disgruntled member at some point in the future.

It's hardly heavy handed.............

Are you hosting the gif yourself or something? Just edit out the image tag

There you go.

Oh I see. You deleted it for me. Thank you.

Does that mean that in general the original poster cannot delete a thread?

Also where does one go to lock a thread?

Thanks.

Well I know it really irked me that Nate C. the guy I bought my 240D from has deleted all his posts on the work he did. I was going to check on something a year ago and it's all gone. What a Nerd!

If you are the OP and you delete the first post, the thread will be deleted.

Or, press "thread tools" on the blue bar above the OP. You can delete or lock the thread with one of the menu selections.

I am not able to access either option.

In this thread as an example. I can delete all of my posts except the first.

When I go to the thread tools on top neither of the options you mention are offered.

The "wholesale deletion or sabotage of posts by a disgruntled member" was most often a symptom which was the result in the mind of some members of a tyranical and despotic moderating problem, a circumstance was eventually recognised and remedied.

Let's play nice now, lest someone remind you that your last two vacations began well after the "problem" was "recognised" and remedied.

But the discussion is about "wholesale deletion or sabotage of posts by a disgruntled member". But I'm sure that your dedication, loyalty and effort to misdirect and make it about me is appreciated by a special someone somewhere! You can always be counted on, atta boy!

Now that is a bit strange.

I can certainly find those options on the threads for which I am the OP.

Maybe Jim can check it out in more detail.

Certain members wish this forum to have no moderation so they can insult other members at anytime they feel the need to reinforce their own ego.

These small minded individuals will always gnash their teeth and stomp their feet when their behavior is curtailed.

The current moderation is no different than the previous moderation................small minded individuals who insult others are banned.

It has happened before and it will certainly occur again because some people never change.
