$50 to test drive a Ford Focus?

I'd like to sign up but how do I know it is legit? The BS meter is moving.

Is there a way to see if the offer is legit? Here is the link...

Lol gotta love that chart...of course a jetta isn't going to have something called "myFord touch". I wish I'd had 50 bucks to test the focus when I was looking

I'll admit I haven't been keeping up on new car tech. Can someone please explain what an "automated manual transmission" is?

I've been activly looking for a 07-10 focus, with a 5 speed, cruise, and AC. Must be Blue.

I think the new ones (11 and 12's) are ugly, and have too much crap.
I want something simple, reliable, and low ownership costs. The new ones have too many options for my liking. I'd find a striped model before getting "parking assist" or "rain sensing wipers" or any of that garbage. It wont last but a few years before your shelling out big bucks for new sensors.

$50 for a joy ride in a Focus? I think not. Now, $50 for a ride in a Ford GT and I might be up for it.

Rather than a slushbox auto it is a snappy manual except the clutch is managed by a servo or computer or something. I haven't heard about the ford ones but the vw dual clutch ones are awesome to drive. Often due to the lack of slush and power loss between shifts of these new auto boxes the mpg rating is actually higher than the manuals!

Yep, a transmission with the same innards as a stick gearbox, but shifted via (com)'putah. Designed for girls and old people who can't be arsed to drive a real car

Sad how few cars that aren't meant for limp-wrists and girls are getting offered in this ****ery these days. Automatic this, autotragic that.

Better performance and better mileage (in comparison to both a manual AND autos). I don't see your point.

I want CONTROL of the clutch. Via my left foot, not by some damned Nintendo putah' vetoing my ability to DRIVE the damn car as I see fit. I'm 32. Fortunately, a car can last 50 years, and manuals are still available. Meaning that if I buy a new car with a REAL transmission, it could last me till I either cack it, or we stop using gasoline.

Put it this way -- if a manual is available, I'd special order it even if it takes putting down $5k cash up front and threatening the dealer's future ability to procreate.

manuals are far from being phased out. The far superior automated manual system is only replacing an automatic. The difference with the true manual is that the new auto manual systems outperform them, which was a big selling point for true manuals before. I ended up getting a manual when I bought my car this summer and could have had a dual clutch paddle-shift auto, which outperformed the 6speed in every way, except I wanted better feel and was a bit wary of reliability. I agree with you to a degree but there is no reason to be bent out of shape about it, this is a huge leap in drivetrain technology.

Dunno, I'm betting that they will be phased out (at least in the US) over the next 5 years. OK, maybe a few niche cars will keep them, but I'm odd in that I want a manual even in an "ordinary" car. 4-door, sedan or ideally wagon. Yeah, the Focus will eventually be offered with manual, but only (apparently) in the base trim, and maybe in the "highly sporty" edition.

Of course, I hope that the point will be more or less moot in 15-20 years, when we'll be driving mostly electric cars

Saw the video but where is the $50 to test drive it? I'm so there if they paid me to test drive it.

Spend 10 mins of your time and get paid $50. IOW your labor rate is $300/hr. What's not to like?
