Oh, you mean you didn't have to be the son of a powerful political family to get a deferment? Who knew?

Kind of llike "I created the internet" and "You can read it after its passed".

Cain displays a lack of class here:
Quote:

"I don’t have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration," Cain said.

Cain to protesters: 'If you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself' - The Hill's Video

Golly, if we only get NYT and Washington Post to tell us not to vote for him he will have hit the trifecta!

This is great!

Yep, you won't find the truth in the mainstream media.

Herman Cain: The GOP's flavor of the month sours early

Here's Cain's failing:

"I don't have facts to back this up, but I happen to believe that these demonstrations are planned and orchestrated to distract from the failed policies of the Obama administration. Don't blame Wall Street, don't blame the big banks, if you don't have a job and you're not rich; blame yourself! ... It is not someone's fault if they succeeded; it is someone's fault if they failed."

And the Times explanation of his faults, "Cain's answer speaks to the seeming inability of today's Republican candidates to defend free-market capitalism and curtailing government regulations on the private sector without sounding crass and insensitive. "

Good thing they are there to help us mere mortals discern what's what.

Yep, where would we be without the brilliant idiots in the press to tell us how we are supposed to think. The problem is that we have a country FILLED with sheeple who let the liberal media do their thinking for them.

Here is her full quote:
Quote:

You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.

But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.
The text of the bill has never been hidden. She was referring to the fog of misinformation being spread by people like the one who edited that youtube clip. That fog, according to Pelosi, made it difficult for people to know what the new law would do. Opponents of the bill were saying that all these bad things would happen if it passed. She was making the point that the proof would be in the pudding. Once the bill was passed, people would come to realize that its opponents had been feeding them a bunch of baloney.

That youtube clip is misleading.

So what's your point? Is the video a fake? All the other parts of your quote do NOT disspell the fact that this dumb lady expects people to pass a bill BEFORE they find out what is IN the bill! How INSANE can you possibly get?

Nice try at re-writing history.

I gave the full quote. How is that re-writing history? What an insulting comment.

You are entitled to your interpretation. Fortunately, we have people here who can read the English language and see what she really said.

There is plenty of stupid, lemming-like behavior on both sides of the political spectrum, most of it is concentrated at the far extremes . . .

Unfortunately, we are now barraged so constantly with information (and mis-information), that it is difficult for the average person to sort it all out. However, it seems to me that if you exercise common sense, attempt to stay reasonably well informed, that you can have a fairly sound opinion about all of these things.

So please enlighten sj and I. Just WHAT did you she say that disspells her statement saying that once it's passed, you can then read it.

As far as I'm concerned, that statement was normal behavior and rhetoric for her. She's NUTS!

Of course not. It's just edited in a misleading way.

That's not what I get from her full quote. Others can read her words and judge for themselves. To someone reading her words and taking them at face value, the only reasonable interpretation is that she was making a valid political point. Consider the context. Congress was about to vote on a controversial bill. People were saying crazy things about it. (Remember "death panels"?) Pelosi was pointing out that those opponents were going to look rather silly once the bill was signed into law and none of those terrible things happened. In fact, in her opinion, a bunch of good things would happen. At that point, the fog of death panels will have been lifted and people will realize that the GOP fed them a bunch of crap.

A fair person can disagree with her about the substance of the health care law and can criticize the compressed time for getting the bill through Congress, but no fair person can suggest that Pelosi intended to for the bill to remain secret until after the vote. For one thing, I doubt that there would be a legal way to do that. For another, if that was her intent, would she really be bragging about it?

She is a great and historic American. She is to the left of most Americans, but that's the preference of the people who keep electing her. I have a friend who has worked on the GOP side of the House for decades. She is a strong Republican. Her boss represents a VERY conservative district. She has great admiration for Pelosi, as do I.

By the way, all those San Francisco gays, drag queens, and lefties who keep electing Pelosi? They are just as American as you and I.

I couldn't agree more. They are Americans too. The only difference is that they are NUTS too, or they wouldn't elect this nutty woman.

The nation said that? If you say so. After all, you lived through it, unlike myself.
