Orioles fan here. Hating the Yankees is part of being an O's fan, but its "sports" hatred; not real hate. Its hard ( even for an O's fan) not to respect and admire Jeeter.

Yankee Stadium had already gone through as many facelifts as it could. I've been to the new stadium and it is awesome and a worthy replacement. Now, if they could just get rid of the law that requires the calorie content of the concession food to be displayed. I haven't had chili cheese fries since the innaugural game against the Cubs when the new park opened.

My last visit to the old Yankee Stadium (aka Yankee Stadium) was the Friday night game of the last series played there in 2008. It needed no facelift, IMHO.

I'm sure it's very nice, but there is no way to replace Yankee Stadium. I'm not claiming to be speaking any sort of objective truth here, I'm just saying that I believe that a structure as historic as Yankee Stadium should have been preserved. The new stadium offers all sorts of amenities attractive to lots of people. Those amenities interest me not at all. I don't really care how well they constructed the new stadium. It is inferior in my mind to what they had. To each his own.
