Upon his arrest, the driver proclaims: "Had she died i would have only paid 20k......had she been injured, i would have to pay hundreds of thousands..."

Let's hope we dont get this low....well we already are.

China has no "Good Samaritan" laws. Folks have already been sued by the victims for coming to their aid, and judges have ruled that doing so automatically puts the good-doer as the original instigator of whatever caused the injury in the first place.

I'm sure those people that passed over the lifeless child wanted to stop, but thinking in the back of their minds that the mom or dad would come rushing over accusing those people of murdering the child!

You have to understand the culture. Girls are merely a hindrance. With a daughter my family name will go with her marriage while with my son, the name continues. My son will help in the fields. My daughter will not.

This is just one that came to mind. I am not sure why people (not you) think that the the people in the US are any more noble or selfless than other cultures.

Makes me wonder how Lt. Calley sleeps at night...just stick the barrel of your rifle into a childs mouth..and...squeeze the trigger~

I'm sure he sleeps very well at night in his own bed. I'm sure he was convinced that he was doing the right thing whether you agree with it or not. Besides, when you live in that world where every man, woman and child is a potential threat, I'd say it is pretty easy to do such a thing. Do you ever ask how the vietnamese can do what the did to the servicemen and still sleep? Same thing.

What were you expecting? Remorse? Really? For getting caught, perhaps. Look at the OP's quote of the driver of the truck and the video of how people are. Yes, I'm sorry that I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar. I expect such behavior of people as such, I don't get disappointed.

On a serious note. I believe it has been awhile since you have encountered a Mainland Chinese person.

I see them everyday...Animals for the most part.

So in that aspect you are correct.

The locals detest these individuals.This morning the wife and I were coming off the SLE onto Ang Mo Kio ave. 5, and saw a China man on a bicycle get ran down by a van.

Both shoes flew off his feet.

Face showing no emotion ,the wifes only comment> 'This is what happens when you dont follow rule'.

Analiseing all of this, I will concede that You and her have a similar make-up> No mercy.

Mainland Chinese, Vietnamese, European, etc, etc are all the same. Humans are humans regardless of what you may want to think. Please don't insult animals. You have to rise above the human level before you can think about rising above the animal level. The animal achieves what you aspire to be with all your crutches like moral codes, religious ideals, etc, etc.
