On my Powerstroke and some of them, it doesn't either. I hogged out the inlet on all my vehicles to allow the bigger nozzle.

C class diesel makes sense, ditto on E. S class? Not for me. It's the prototypical fat cat, capitalist pig-mobile. You need a big V8 or 12.

What you say makes sense, but they did sell an awful lot of W116 and W126 diesels for some reason.

The diesel in this type of car makes about as much sense as the hybrid. They won't even sell it to you without AWD. If they really wanted to sell a fuel efficient S class they would have brought over the S250 CDI

I'm guessing the 21c/31h of the S350 CDI is more favorable for fleet mpg calculations than the 12c/19h of the S600.

I don't know about that. It does have higher rated city and highway mpg than the S400 hybrid.

While the S250 CDI will give even better mileage, the S350 CDI does have the same fuel mileage estimates as the C250 gasser.

A few years ago, AMG tuned a diesel C-Class Coupe.


Google it, C30 CDI AMG. IIRC, they punched out the displacement a bit, and gained 50 horsepower.

Maybe I will buy one in 10 years. I'd rather have the diesel ML though.....will probably consider one in another 5 years if the prices are right.
