It's not as if there isn't precident. This nation is certainly big enough, strong enough and right minded enough to acknowledge it's mistakes and wrongdoing, unless you disagree with that. Where you may perceive weakness in such an act, it is surely a sign of strength. This nation has apologized for bad acts before, particularly to its own people, and it likely won't end anytime soon.

Well, not quite ten times as big as Iraq, but big. More than double the population and approx 3 times as large in area. Bigger than Texas, California, Montana, and Georgia put together.

All jokes aside, good for Gov. Romney! If we continue following all these joke pacts we have e.g. NATO and the Geneva Convention, and "leading from behind" as one of Obama's advisers put it, sure, it could prove ineffective to enter a war in Iran. But if we follow the old scorched earth plan, I don't foresee a loss. The U.S. has the most combat ready, field trained military in the world. Not to mention, should we decide, we have 12 SUPER carriers at our disposal ready to flatten any city in a matter of I'd say 24 hours.
