Frank...really?

The guy that repeatedly lied to everyone about the condition of the housing market...

Rep. Barney Frank: Supercommittee failure

Barney, the RWNJ bogey man who caused the 08 crash according to the RWNJ Alternate Theory Of The Universe.......

I agree with him, this is the best outcome. No compromise, well, then let's do it.

Remember this statement by Frank during a hearing on September 10, 2003, before the House Committee on Financial Services considering a Bush administration proposal to further regulate Fannie and Freddie?

Quote:
I want to begin by saying that I am glad to consider the legislation, but I do not think we are facing any kind of a crisis. That is, in my view, the two government sponsored enterprises we are talking about here, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not in a crisis. We have recently had an accounting problem with Freddie Mac that has led to people being dismissed, as appears to be appropriate. I do not think at this point there is a problem with a threat to the Treasury.
Had he told the truth then, I doubt we'd be in such a mess now with Fannie and Freddie.

If GW Bush had told the truth we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

The Reckoning, The President's Speech to the Nation on September 24, 2008

. . .

Our economy is facing a moment of great challenge, but we've overcome tough challenges before, and we will overcome this one.

I know that Americans sometimes get discouraged by the tone in Washington and the seemingly endless partisan struggles, yet history has shown that, in times of real trial, elected officials rise to the occasion.

And together we will show the world once again what kind of country America is: a nation that tackles problems head on, where leaders come together to meet great tests, and where people of every background can work hard, develop their talents, and realize their dreams.

Thank you for listening. May God bless you.

If any of the lyin' barstools we've put in high office the past 50 years had told the truth we: Wouldn't have been in Vietnam, wouldn't have suffered through Watergate, wouldn't have been involved in the Iran-Contra mess, wouldn't have had the national embarrassment of Monicagate, been in a protracted war in Iraq, or gotten hosed by the housing collapse.

Take partisan sides if that appeals to you. To me, they're all swine.

Personally, I think the "Stupor" Committee should forfeit all of their salary for the entire period of the Committee...since they didn't do a thing other than whine and point fingers.

I think that congress should only get raises based on performance, instead of getting one because they decided they needed one.

Why do you think that Frank was lying? He might have just been mistaken, unless you know something I don't, which is a distinct possibility.

Are you suggesting that the people in power lied in all those instances? If so, I'm glad to see you have opened your mind on that point.

But he still failed to tell " The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth".

As I consider that oath which we require in all Court cases, I wish we could make it apply to every statement and action by every member of Congress, and the Administration.

Just watched part of "Mr Smith goes to Washington" again last night. 1939--and the subtlety of government corruption was already well documented.

Subtle "government corruption" existed the day after government was created centuries ago, and has been documented since then.
