Documentary on Planned Obsolescence

On my flight back to the glorious USA I had the pleasure of finding a documentary on planned obsolescence called "The Light Bulb Conspiracy". I thought I would share it with you all, especially in this community, where build quality and longevity are appreciated about the fads of the current market.

Watch the entire thing on Youtube! It's 53 minutes long, so if you do not have time for it now, bookmark/save it for later! It's VERY MUCH worth a watch or two.

The floor is now open for debate!

I have not watched, but I am sure I get the idea. I like my Apple products. But I realized long ago they never release the best. If they did it would take years to come out with a product that can top it. So they release in increments. First iPad, no camera, sold like hotcakes. Second version had one, so they sold even more. Sometimes this is a good thing. If the iPhone 4S was the first iPhone, it would have gotten horrible reviews for being too difficult to use. So sometimes it makes sense to going against what the market wants and evolve. Sometimes, like with the lightbulb, its complete crap.

Is that not the story about the color TV, pretty much invented at the same time as the B/W TV?
