OpEd: 5 Myths About the President

Five Myths about President Obama

Of course, some of the raps on Obama are valid interpretations of his performance. It’s not a myth that he was long distracted from job creation, that his foreclosure policies have failed or that he was outfoxed by Republicans for much of 2011. But as Obama prepares to defend his record Tuesday in the State of the Union address, let’s dispense with some genuine misconceptions about his presidency.

Nothing like the Washington Compost!

They start out the article by explaining away the opposition as being due to his rapid rise. His rapid rise was due to publications like the Compost running interference for him and refusing to push for facts such as a college transcript.

Give me a break!

STOP THE PRESSES!!!
The Washington Post defends the democratic President.
That is news, for sure.

All those points are simply opinions, no matter how they dress it up. Its part of the re election campaign to run away from his record.

I thought Alter wrote it, not the Washington Post.

uh, that's why it's an OpEd piece, which by the way does contain criticisms as well as debunkin'.

Hey Larry, why don't you address the article? Since "socialist" is your favorite epithet for this president, I'd be interested in reading your rebuttal of Myth number 1.

I'm guessing that you are not a regular Post reader. If you were, you would not be so quick to assume that the Post consistently leans in favor of Democrats. In fact, its editorial writers are well to the right.

I agree 100%. This "5 Myths about..." thing is a regular feature in the Sunday Post. I hate it. They basically find some pundit to come up with 5 things to say about someone or something. Then they portray the conventional understanding of those 5 things as being myths. The column is contrived and worth ignoring, IMHO.

I'm no expert on political strategy (understatement), but I would say the opposite is true. If there is a myth out there on Obama, it's that he hasn't accomplished anything. I think his strategy is going to be to get the voters to try to see through the haze and focus on his significant accomplishments made in the face of stiff GOP opposition.

Past posts indicate that he's a careful study of the media, like the thread of blatant media bias in the reporting of the discovery of fracking fluid byproducts in a midwestern mining operation, that actually was fair in the report and gave the position from both sides.

B.O. has INDEED accomplished something. In three short years he's added over $5T in debt. What he has NOT accomplished is a budget. He's gone over 1,000 days without proposing a budget, all the while blaming it on congress. The Pres is supposed to be a leader and PROPOSE a budget. If he did that though, he wouldn't be able to blame congress.

The guy has got to go!

Have you Googled that lack of submitting a budget claim? I have.

Anything written by Jonathan Alter has to be tempered by the fact he is an Obama cheerleader. Google his name and see for yourself. He doesn't let the facts get in the way.

He'll be out of your hair by January 20, 2017.
