I was visiting Ireland and decided to go up to Belfast to see an old family friend. This was during the "troubles" and the city was like a urban war zone.

I hauled ass out the door with everyone else and took shelter on the next street in a doorway and bumped into a cute redhead. We shared a smoke while we waited for the all clear when a huge explosion happened. The pub was history. She said come with me to a safer pub and I spent the evening playing darts and getting smashed.

Fast Forward 6 months to the Spring of 1977 and I was walking into a Spring Semester Geology class at NYU. I sit down and look up and who is across the aslile from me but the cute redhead from Belfast!

18 months later we moved in together and were married in the summer of 1983.

29 years later we are still together.
