Umm, rights and responsibilities.....I vaguely recall those words from my childhood. What happened to them?

We have been educated to keep them separate. We've been educated to believe that people are not responsible for their actions---somehow all misbehavior is society's fault. Well, we can see where that kind of thinking has gotten us.

Breaking a leg doesn't qualify you for a Handicap Card or plate...it has to be something a bit more permanent.

And lacking brains was never a qualifier in the first place...

Besides, a normal Dr. would advise you to do one of two things...#1.) Stay off the leg or #2.) Park away from the front door and exercise a bit and "walk" to build it back up.

A Quack, however, would give you a HandiCard 'cause you're a golfing bud or someone that won't stay out of the office and bugs him enough to get one.

You can get a temporary designation, complete with expiration date, that can be affixed to the mirror. Been there with a relative.

If your leg is in a cast, and you are keeping it suspended away from the ground via the use of crutches, just how does "walking" build it back up?

ramonajim 03-06-2012 06:38 PM

Data point, FWIW.

I've been eligible for handicap plates in three states over the last.... quarter century or so. Haven't taken one, temporary or otherwise, ever.

No excuse for asshattery. Period.

You are indeed correct, mein Herr.
Other cultures maintain rather strict and clearly defined legal limitations to stupidity, beyond which, nobody in their right mind, would want to endure the pain of punishment.

Are you sure? I say that because I had one when I had a broken fibula and torn ligaments.

True.

Really? How would you do #1? Stay in bed all day long? Are you sure about #2?

How often have you seen that?

I hope he does. That's the only way people learn.

He has that right. He is also responsible for any damage inflicted on anyone, or anything, as a result of improperly securing them for the speed he was driving.
Rights and responsibilities--they go together.

What if the flag comes off and gets someone killed or maimed? How does he fix that?

Jim B. 03-07-2012 12:04 AM

From the movie.

Duke's dying words, after being shot in a botched supermarket robbery attempt:

Duke: The lights are growing dim, Otto. I know a life of crime has led me to this sorry fate, and yet, I blame society. Society made me what I am.

Otto: That's bull****. You're a white suburban punk just like me.

Duke: Yeah, but it still hurts

I didn't say he could "fix" anything. I said he was responsible.

The driver is handicapped.... in the following ways.

1) Can't park OR
2) Can't see
3) Poor judgement (it's got to be difficult to load the wheelchair/crutches in that backseat.
4) More poor judgement (just a Turbo S? Should have gone for the GT2 RS or at least the Cabriolet there in Newport Beach)

I can't say that they have poor taste though. I wouldn't mind having the car myself. I just wouldn't park like that.

I have put this tool to work several times...solely on cars who owners were epitomes of douchebaggery...such as the owner of that Porsche.

that's a db move right there.

LaRondo 03-07-2012 05:38 PM

Personally, I would not want to be liable for 4 high end Porsche valve stems.
