Looks like Soviet style equipment and the terrain is consistent with Afghanistan, so I'm guessing the Soviet war there. I wonder if the fellow out front got his eardrums blown out.

That was my original thought as well but I have no way of truly telling, it could also be Bosnia.

I'm wondering if it is a movie scene too. Couple of things that stand out.

1. The front center viewport looks like it is blown out, but the other front and side ports appear intact. I would expect a blast strong enough to toss the turret to blow out all the viewports.

2. Would the blast concussion have knocked down the man in front?

3. The turret doesn't appear to have wires or shrapnel around it. Even if they are held in by gravity, I would expect optics, comm gear, etc to go flying.

4. The rock in front of the rear tire looks odd, almost like the tire is chocked. Maybe it is hiding some special effects gear.

5. The turret looks like a rounded dome. The BRDM had sloped armor on the turret.

Still a neat photo, real or staged.

What's the movie called? It sounds like something I might want to see.

It makes me think of the Kirkuk area, first Gulf War.

The Afghan National Army doesn't usually dress like that and the rifle is a Chinese version (Plant 68) of an AKM, not an AK-47 thus post 1972. Saddam bought a lot of those.

My two cents.

Looks like a movie scene.

OTOH those turrets do pop nice when our guys nail them.
