How has there not been a thread on this yet....
KONY 2012 - YouTube The invisible children campaign has come under a lot of scrutiny for a number of reasons including their financial structure. In the very least you're basically looking at the future of marketing and social awareness campaigns. It has been brilliantly executed so far but its effectiveness still remains in question.

This about sums it up for me. This whole thing exploded out of nowhere 6 years too late. All I took from the explosion of KONY 2012 posts was that people I know jump into the boat before reading up.

I don't know enough about Ugandan politics to comment. I do know it's fraught with right wing theocrats as evidenced in the recently proposed law to execute homosexuals and imprison all those who fail to report homosexuals to the authorities. So I guess it's not surprising to me that there is a Lord's army in the region. Can anyone give us a short summary of Ugandan politics post-Idi Amin?
