What Happened to the Tea Party?

Why are they throwing their support to Santorum over kindred spirit/founder Ron Paul?

Why the Tea Party Doesn't Like Ron Paul

A Quinnipiac University poll released this week showed that only 30 percent of tea party supporters likely to vote in the GOP primary have a favorable opinion of Paul.

That’s compared with 79 percent who view former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) favorably, 64 percent who look favorably at former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and 49 percent who say the same of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney (R).

They are a bunch of morons so far as I am concerned.

Their founder resides up in this "conservative" county and he got arrested for packing a gun when he landed at the airport in new York City not long ago.

He very quietly "resigned" thereafter, when he copped a plea of some kind..

The tea party itself has some well intentioned people, but its message is simplistic and unworkable, and like the Occupy Wall Street people, whose message is being destroyed by anarchistic brick throwers, and encampments that lok like homeless once, the tea arty is FULL of nutcases they can't get rid of or don't want to.

I think BOTH of them need a massive DOUCHE.

Your anarchistic brick throwers are SEIU,ACORN and other radical lefties who are the useful idiots from Obama's base.
They are the ones Obama is counting on to usher in the fundamental change he gushed about 3 years ago Comrade.
Fundamental change means totally different than what it was from ground up.

I thought Santorum was the fundamentalist. Is his brand of fundamentalism better than others?

As I read it, Ron Paul is a free market fundamentalist whereas Santorum is a religious fundamentalist. The Tea Party seems to be made up of far more religious fundamentalists than free market fundamentalists hence the appeal of Santorum over Paul. It's odd though that most of the Tea Party fundamentalists appear to be Protestant and Santorum is Catholic. Those two religious fundamentalisms have pretty big differences but there must be something about religious fundamentalism that unites people in ways that economic/social fundamentalism doesn't. I don't think Barry Goldwater would fare well in the Tea Party. Is there more patriarchy in religious fundamentalism which attracts Tea Partiers?

The Tea Party is alive, well and quite active. Very, very few have supported Paul as he is a Libertarian with a really rancid foreign policy.
