I thought candidates could not coordinate with PACs? You know, the ones that resulted from Citizens United . . . championed by which party? Hmm. Where are the outraged social media requests to boycott HBO? It's about as loud as a golf clap, isn't it.

This was already delt with in the Rush thread but I guess we can do it again.

I do not like the language that Maher. I do not use that language. It is juvenile, vile and insulting whether used by Limbaugh, Maher or anyone else. Having said that I believe there is a big difference between what Maher and Limbaugh said albeit one that you wil probably disagree with.

Maher's comments were directed at an individual. That does not make it right, just what it is. I do not care for Palin in the slightest but I would never defend such comments against her. Limbaugh's comments were directed at every woman who uses contraceptives. It was viewed as an attack on women in general not a specific woman. That is where I believe the difference is and where the outrage is focused. I do not think anyone cares that a misogynistic, drug addict blow hard used the term slut or prostitute in regards to Ms Fluke. The anger comes from the fact that men are making the rules regarding women's health care and reproductive rights and that his comments had far greater impact than just a description of Ms Fluke.

Both men are idiots but Limbaugh attacked a group where as Maher just went after one person as Limbaugh as done countless times without even making a blip on the radar.

It all seems like a bunch of hand-wringing crybabies who are upset that their idol, Rush Limburger, got himself into trouble with his big ugly mouth.

Now they go out and find comments from COMEDIANS and expect that the president should address these as well. Sheer lunacy.

Rush did this to himself, and no amount of finger pointing will change it.


Also, why should the super pac give back Maher's donation? Because he has made some ugly statements about women as part of his comedy routine?

You're right, I don't agree. They were both directed at individuals. They were both idiotic statements. The only difference is one had media legs for media purposes and the other did not.

This exposed the media slant more than anything else.

The weak part is that some people are so riled that their spiritual leading blowhard got his pee-pee smacked for making offensive comments, so now they are resorting to 5 year old tactics. HE DID IT FIRST!!!!

The issue being addressed was contraception. The hearing was about contraception. Nearly every women uses contraception at one point in their lives. We can debate the wording used but Limbaugh's comments went far beyond Ms Fluke.

Here is his quote:

You are confusing the issues here. I do not think any money should be returned or sponsors lost for the harmless opinion of an entertainer. Political or otherwise. To try a draw a line between the two for sake of taking political sides is the stretch here.


For the record, I do not listen to Limbaugh/Maher.


Edit: I thought it was the fact he dared call a fellow to the great Pelosi a slut. Someone needs to rewrite all the headlines used to draw attention to this.

This is a weak attempt to dethrone Limbaugh no matter how you all spin this.
