The Department Of Homeland Security Is Buying 450 Million New Bullets

Read more: US Immigration Agents Are Loading Up On As Many As 450 Million New Rounds Of Ammo

"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office is getting an "indefinite delivery" of an "indefinite quantity" of .40 caliber ammunition from defense contractor ATK.

U.S. agents will receive a maximum of 450 million rounds over five years, according to a press release on the deal.

The high performance HST bullets are designed for law enforcement and ATK says they offer "optimum penetration for terminal performance.""

We already know government is increasingly buying up huge amounts of ammo. Which in turn will starve the civilian markets and drive up the price for ammo there, go figure.

Considering how many agents there are, and how many rounds they typically shoot for practice and qualification, this doesn't seem all that high. I shoot about 500 rounds a month in 4 sessions. That's 6000 rounds a year, and I'm a lightweight. Those guys might shoot a thousand rounds in one intensive weekend training session.

Article only refers to DHS and related branches and a 'new' type of projectile designed for .40cal and/or other popular calibers.

Watch ammo prices and availability, it'll tell you.

First it's an indefinite quantity over an indefinite time. Then it's 450million over five years. The second paragraph cancels out the first. Oh well. Look what happend when O was elected with the run on ammo then. Now this. I always knew Obama was just a front man for the ammunition lobby

This program was started under G. W. Bush. Everyone knows that.

Of course, as everyone also knows, G. W. Bush had been plotting to take over the World since the early 70's. Why do you think they took his jet fighter away and came up with that bogus 'He just walked away from the National Guard' story?

Nixon knew that with an aircraft like the secret fighter being developed with Martian technology it was just a matter of time before Bush would be able to get his hands on one and bore into the core of the Earth. Only 'The Few' know what would take place next, and I'm not talking.

To quote T. Chong:

Myfatherplaysdominos,betterthanyourfatherplaysdominos.

Say it fast or it makes no sense.

And......

Check out ATK is a Fortune 500 aerospace, defense, security, and sporting products company for further details on what this 'little known' company does.

It would seem to me this ammo contract would be one of their smaller ones.

IDIQ with an NTE is a standard contract vehicle. We used to have a standard IDIQ contract for concrete.

The more relevant figure might be what's the minimum guaranteed buy.

Ammo prices are going up and availability is going down as we speak and it doesn't have to do with this business. It has to do with the election. NRA tools panic "Obama's gonna take away our guns!!!". Ammo companies love the paranoia all the way to the bank. Meantime, rational shooters take it in the shorts.

I'm not sure I understand the comment about a lot of dead liberals. Hopefully it isn't actually wishing death to those with a difference of political opinion. Anyone who thinks liberals don't shoot is a fool.

Who writes these pieces? "New" bullets? I should freaking hope so. I always get depressed when I purchase a box of used bullets. Dang things don't have much "kick" to them.
