Oops

I broke a tree today. Feel free to take guesses on how this occurred. If you wish to feel even better about yourself, note that I melted the wire to the starter this morning too. The 123 is fine though.

The starter's wiring loom is a crispy critter, and she's an automatic (sadly.)

Didn't think those had enough power to do that?

Looks like she really wanted to get away.

Sorry to see that; I hope it's practical to repair.

Your bout of severe constipation ended and then you had a bad leg cramp.

You were probably attempting to emulate Jeremy Clarkson's "POWAHHHH"

Actually...

I had some fields to cut this morning for the first time this year. I needed to free the twelve foot bush hog that goes on the equally enormous New Holland. Said farm implement was trapped behind Gretchen, whose battery is often flat because of her rubbish alternator bracket. Normally I jump start the little white 123 with my big F250 Herb, but that monster is having some badly needed traction bars fabricated and installed. Thus, I made the fateful error of attempting to jump start the 123 with the New Holland (pictured below.) it didn't go well. There was smoke, and the plastic wiring insulation around the wire from the dodgy alternator to the starter melted and crackled as a short had occurred. Consequently Gretchen got pushed out of the way so I could hook up the 'hog and cut my fields.
With the fields cut and Gerta stranded in the middle of my undulating Tarmac unable to wheeze into life I decided it would in no way be problematic if I shifted her into neutral and pushed her gently back into her berth in my shop with the Kubuta. As my photo shows it did not go well, but didn't really go terribly wrong either. The front left wheel was turned outward and the tire gently raped the tree. Der WeiB Panzer was completely unharmed, but once again stranded in a fun new way.

If it's not a level surface neutral is not your friend. Ask me how I know sometime. Glad she's ok.

To paraphrase Dr.Dr. Jezza Clarkson, "I had no doubt the car would be fine whatever she struck, as Mercedes would have made the W123 out of diamonds, but they were too weak and brittle."
