Why would anyone want to worship a god that hides knowledge, requiring some kind of secret decoder ring to figure it out. Unless of course the code wasn't written by god hizzownself but by PEOPLE, which would mean that, um... the bible may not actually be the unabridged word of god.

You could also ask that same question of why anyone would worship a mean deity. How many times again did we see the same thing in the old testament where somebody does something that the deity didn't like and it's a lightning bolt or something. New testament = New deal? Not for St Paul, aka Saul. Blinded till he decided to see things the way the deity wanted. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

"Holiness" is a tough concept. We prefer an easier way. Remember the first lie---when Satan urged Eve to question God's motives. Satan uses the same strategy today--he appeals to man's vanity, and questions whether God really is "good".

I am not convinced that God and Satan are not one in the same.

What does it say about us that we can only imagine a god that is as petty, capricious and punitive as we are?
Are we already gods? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference between us and "him".

A god who provides only one path to salvation for his believers, and then creates a lifetime of pitfalls and traps, a minefield of ways to screw up and not make it; a god who goofs on the people he claims to have abiding love for? A god with an imagination so tiny that his only solution for the naughtiness of his creations is eternal punishment? A god who requires blood sacrifice, whether it be chickens, lambs, goats or his own son?
