Perhaps so. But I dare say they have few equals in thier open, brazen, application of that attitude towards their employees on a daily basis - IOW, they're not at all shy about telling you to your face you're an inferior POS, no matter the circumstances or how many people are around.

I know. With all the drama here I figured I was at the theater.

Some might argue that the openess is preferred compared to the unspoken and silent feeling harbored in other cultures. Being a "gaijin" in Japan, a "haole" in Hawaii, and the list goes on.

When it involves profanity and racial epithets as part of the "lecture" regarding your worth to the company, I'll pass on the openness, thanks.

basically, ALL employment other than self employment is voluntary endenture (slavery lite). companies exploit the need of people to survive by offering them compensation for their labor, but it is a form of slavery nonetheless. Read about how most early colonists got to America, see how absymally they were treated (as were the actual slaves) and you will understand better the true relationship between business & labor. endentured "servants" were lucky to survive their endentureship period and when they did, they were forced out towards the frontier in order to be able to eke a meager living.

the fat cats with the business jets are making their money off the backs of the little people. public utilities, insurance companies and cable companies are amongst the worst offenders. most of them have a HIDDEN fleet of jet aircraft that would seriously knock your eyes out. we are talking fleets of Falcons and Gulfstreams deliberately kept out of the public's eye. meanwhile, don't forget to pay your insurance premiums, electric bill, phone bill and cable bill so that they can keep up their lifestyle.

Sarah Silverman said that she used to have a black boyfriend, and before she broke up with him, told him that "Obama would have been a VERY EXPENSIVE SLAVE".

During the long years I spent at BIG oil my section had two Managers like that. We never could figure out what their problem was.

One day we pointed out to the guy that people in our positions didn't just fall into them. Most of us were hand-picked from the teeming masses to make sure the entire refinery, pipeline and refined products system didn't just fall off the face of the Earth, and that if we were to be fired we would start work a few days later at another oil company.

So he told to start looking. We made a few phone calls and received a lot of offers. We put them all in a file folder and handed it to him.

When he discovered we had no fear of him he tried to scare us in other ways, but we would just pick up and folder and wave it at him.

He finally asked to be transferred to another area of the company. Fear was the only motivational tool he had and we had taken it from him.

Our new Boss put on all our reviews: Works GREAT without supervision.

If your name is "Silverman", I suppose you can afford such remarks.

Maybe that's mainly because most anything meant to happen is bound for "maņana" and the only certainty you have about "maņana" is, not today.
