260e value

1989 Mercedes Benz 260E - Needs Fuel Pump.

What's this thing worth? Going to look at it in a few. Owner says it has 140k miles. Auto trans. Price on CL is all over the map.

Any ideas? Thanks, Kat

Come with $500 and offer him $450 cash. It's worth zero unless you can tell that the problem is the fuel pump for sure, and that the FP is the only problem (could be a blown engine and bad fuel pump).

It's one of those things ... if the car is worth anything, why didn't he just fix it before selling it.

A few years ago, I bought a bike that needed the "carbs cleaned." Turns out that some moron had drilled a hole inside the carb while "rejetting" the bike, and it was running very rich. Set me back some for a ring job and a new left carb.

Thanks. Went and looked at it. Supposed to meet but he never showed. Will update if he calls me back and I can look inside and turn it over. Funny, I was going to offer $450...

Running and in good shape, what are these going for?

Never showed? That looks like a motel parking lot -- sure it wasn't a scam to rob you, and something scared him off?

$450-500 sounds about right. It's nice enough to be worth putting an engine and transmission in, because as far as you know both could be bad. Now if it were running I could see it being a $1500-2000 car.

It's an Apt complex, though quite sketchy. Car was there. Tires are not new, 08 and cracking.
