George Lucas Presents: The Getto

George Lucas proposes building affordable housing on property | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News

Seems like a good idea.
I think this may be the best thing Lucas has done since Howard the Duck

This could be real or it could be he is leaving the area with what it would see as the lesser of two evils: Low income housing or the Studios.

Once the opposition sees what could be on the property they may decide the Studio is not such a bad thing after all.

I once had a pipeline project held up by a town that would not grant right of way. This was an expansion project, so we had an existing ROW, but we needed a Variance for construction.

They said no to any concessions we were willing to make, so I cooked up a plan that was presented to them whereby we would build a tank at one end of town and a tank at the other and truck the additional oil across the city. This would involve 18,000 tanker truck trips a day. Or they could let us expand a line that had been in service for over 50 years.

There was no doubt we could come up with the trucks and tankers, so they granted us our Variance. This was about 20 years ago and so far there has not been any problem with the line where it goes through their city.

They were presented with a choice and they chose the lesser of two evils. I wonder if Lucas is just doing the same?

If I read the article correctly it seems what the'se morons were *****ing about is the construction noise alone, not even the completed studios. God what a bunch of idiots. Isnt't that where Skywalker Ranch is already situated? How is expanding that a serious problem? Anyway. Now they can get to enjoy their new ghetto freinds

You haven't seen what a 250k will buy you in the bay area... not only that, but the people of Marin County are the same people who sniff their own farts.

Its pretty much the capital of SMUG.

No offence to anyone who lives there. Lovely part of the state. and I've seen a few old MB diesels on my drives throught there.... but those cars are likely the cheapest/oldest cars on the road.

Ahh the old affordable card, it can play well if done properly.

He is just doing what any builder would do to persuade the neighbors to play nice.

When people hear "affordable" they think section 8, but its not. Plus only a percentage has to be affordable, doesn't have to be the entire development.

The best part about the affordable act is that if the land meets the requirements you throw the zoning laws out the window, and shove it down the cities throat.

this is only acceptable if each new home is built to either forest of endor standards, or tatooine dugout standards.

I liked the buried house with little pueblo huts in movie one, but I like the treehouses more from movie three. I would live in either provided adequate parking
