wow, set up just like my 87 quantum, steering behind the motor. Looks like a high rack and pinion steering setup. Interesting for the age of the car

I don't see any engine belts...

HP ratings? Top speed? I only ask because I'm guessing that cool old wagon would be horrific to drive on modern streets.
If it's been well preserved, and knowing how ahead of their time some vintage German FWD designs were, that car might be surprisingly pleasent to drive today.
Can it be much worse than a 240D or VW IDI diesel? I like it.

That engine bay looks like some miniature 19th century industrial plant, yet it was built in my lifetime. I must be getting on...

Just forward of the steering-rack is the transverse leaf-spring, serving as the upper contol-arms for the front suspension. Same setup as my '57 DKW and very common on small German cars of the '50s.
The water-cooled flat-four is very similar to that introduced in the late'60s, on Subaru's first FWD cars.

A few years ago, at the Carlisle PA Import & Kitcar show, I saw a red Goliath van for sale. Pretty solid vehicle for $2300, but with a broken windsheild. Good luck finding replacement glass for one of those!

Happy Motoring, Mark

the front has a familial resemblence to the Triumph Spitfire....not that they are actually related but look like cousins.

The engine looks quite well done. I agree, no belts is good.;)
