Problems with ForcedInduction (Mercedes Forum)

This is cross-posted from BenzWorld -- if that's not cool, please delete with my apologies. I felt my experience needed to be stated here as well.

**

Has anyone else run into problems dealing with an individual who goes by the name of ForcedInduction?

I am (or was) a member of MercedesForum. He posted a thread ranting about a person on YouTube who had "destroyed" a 300D. ForcedInduction posted -- I believe in violation of Mercedes Forum's own site terms -- personal indentifying information about the individual that ForcedInduction had tracked down, including his street address, telephone number and email address.

ForcedInduction is a mod, as well.

I replied to the thread saying that I thought posting such information set a bad example and was irresponsible. He replied saying big deal, the information was on the Internet for anyone who looks for it.

I replied saying that doesn't mean it should be reposted, and that as a mod I expected him to follow his own site's terms of use. I asked him to please remove the information from the thread or I would report the thread to other mods, but that I would like to avoid going that route.

ForcedInduction deleted my posts and banned me from MercedesForum for a month, but not before I was able to send a PM to the head mod describing what had occurred.

The "you're banned" email I received from Mercedes Forum says:

"I'm sorry Mr. McCleary, I will not be intimidated by you. Per IB rules "Harassing, intimidating, stalking or threatening other community members", any further harassing or threatening posts from you will result in being banned *_permanently_*."

I'm well aware of Mercedes Forum's rules. I quoted them to ForcedInduction when I was trying to explain why I felt his behavior was in the wrong. Apparently the rules don't apply to mods themselves.

The only thing I did that could be even remotely considered threatening was saying I'd report his behavior to his supervisor.

This is the first time I've ever been banned from a forum. Does it seem like I was out of line?

Edit: ForcedInduction has since removed the personal information from the thread, except for the individual's name and city/state.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but I will admit I did a little LOL. FI has been banned on STD and not sure of his status on PP. How big is Benzworld BTW ? Yup, he's been pretty nasty to a bunch of folks, especially if you disagree with anything he has to say. Personally, I never had any dealings with him -- mainly because I see how he behaves. I would not worry about it at all. He's the great librarian, but not much else. Take a stroll thru the forums and you will see that he has his own collection of "banned" added to his name.

He's known on a bunch of these forums for his unique demeanor. I've never had a problem with him personally but it seems that some folks just don't get along with him. Don't take it personally, sounds like you were fine but then again its another forum and another context so who knows. OTOH, it's nice over here why not stay a while

His (moderated) forum, his rules. We're not talking about the US Constitution here.

No sympathy for "CrazyMatt" here -- if you post a video of yourself being a moron on the Internet, expect unwelcome attention. That's the way it is.

in the youtube video linked, he doesn't actually destroy the car. I didn't watch any other videos, but the kid blows a tire doing a burn out, taking the life off the diff true, and then does some 180s, actually not terribly.

The rest of the video is them towing the car out of a ditch.

lance needs to lighten up, maybe take some of that rage, and focus on girls instead. Thats a lot more fun than screaming about some stupid youtube kids video, threatening to take him to court no less. what a waste of time

IMO, that video is nowhere near as bad as the one a couple years ago where some kids in Russia are wailing on a WOT 240 engine with a sledge.

OP, I dealt with the same stuff from him a while back, just let it go. You are not winning any arguments with him, and if you want to avoid his behavior, just spend your time on the thousand forums where he's been banned.

Uhm, that engine was clattering like it dropped a bearing or 5 by the end of the "dyno run." Everyone concerned is an idiot, IMHO, but if he wants to whine on a forum that he himself moderates, it doesn't make my upset.

Watch it again. Thats the tire falling apart, not the motor. He runs it again until the tire blows, the engine still sounds good.

Lol, would be fun, but a word of warning, NO ONE spends more time or puts more effort ino internet bickering than lovable old Lance. Set him off, and when it stops being fun, he's still tenaciously on point and ready to continue

My advice to the OP, go home, kiss the wife/girlfriend, spend quality time with the family, play with the kids, hang out with friends. By doing so, you are winning, because rest assured FI is surfing the internet being a general PITA over obscure BS while you do that.

Oh--F.I. is still the same then....?

Thought he may have grown out of that nonsense over the last year or two and the many Forums he's allegedly banned from!
