Why should you even care. Most of the coal plants are in the mid-west that you north easterners suck off. Not to mention all of the foreign fuel oil that the businesses and residents use. Why not close down all of the coal fired plants that produce 75% of all electric, all 102 nukes that produce 20% of all electric and the rest of us can live on the remaining 5% that solar (what a joke) and the bald eagle and golden eagle killing windmills produce. That kind of vitriol is going to shorten your lifespan.
Of course the black lung disease wont help either.

Time to pull the head out of the collective rear and begin the transition away from fossil fuels. If you work in the coal industry, it is high time to start broadening your horizons. Clinging to outdated methodology will not restore this country to greatness, and then who will be the fools.

Besides, maybe us north easterners (who you seem to have some kind of problem with) will just out bid you flyover fools and keep the juice for ourselves. You guys roll up the sidewalks and go to bed at dusk anyway, right?

Aw, heck...looks like we have a buyer for US coal. China to the rescue!!

We've already sent them so many of our jobs, why not give them our natural resources as well...

I know who the fools are, 45% of all our emmissions are from coal-fools.

China was pretty happy when coal was discovered in Mongolia. Selling them coal would be like selling ice to . . . well, you know.

Beijing also has one of the worst air quality of any major capital city.

Funny thing about that. China has permanent coal fires that can be seen at night from the space shuttle and satellites. I believe there are a couple in PA, too. Probably others elsewhere. Wonder what their pollution footprint is?

3,700,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), the primary human cause of global warming--as much carbon dioxide as cutting down 161 million trees.

10,000 tons of sulfur dioxide (SO2), which causes acid rain that damages forests, lakes, and buildings, and forms small airborne particles that can penetrate deep into lungs.

500 tons of small airborne particles, which can cause chronic bronchitis, aggravated asthma, and premature death, as well as haze obstructing visibility.

10,200 tons of nitrogen oxide (NOx), as much as would be emitted by half a million late-model cars. NOx leads to formation of ozone (smog) which inflames the lungs, burning through lung tissue making people more susceptible to respiratory illness.

Take a leisurly ride on U.S. Highway 16, through Welch and War West Virginia..its like a picture out of the 40's..smells just great too.
