Anyone just sell everything and start over?

I'm thinking about doing it. Go "back to basics" and start fresh.

I was forced to start over once. I lost everything I owned in a house fire, including some vehicles, back in 2007. Insurance covered some of it, but not all.

Starting over isn't an easy thing to do...If I were you, I'd stand back and look at things through fresh eyes instead of wanting to start over. A clear view of what you have in your life is step one.

Keeps you hustling to maintain one new car, and 2 old ones in tip top shape. Let me tell you!

In your case it may be a different matter though. You may may be ready for this. Or not.

I would be glad to discuss it with you before my vacation in about 11 days (driving a new E klasse on the Autobahn.)

If the average person were to take a look around their home/garage, then examine all of their 'stuff'-they could ask themselves-'Do I really need all of this stuff'.

ie: 'Hmmm, how many times have I actually used this food-processor, blender, or George Foreman grill'

At that point, they could assess how much of their 'stuff' they really need.

Spoken like someone with 5-S experience...

Since the restart in my life, I am constantly downsizing the number of things we own and don't use in the house, with the exception of tools and collectibles. Just last week, we were able to get rid of one entire set of stainless steel cookware...we gave it to my oldest daughter for her to put up until she decides to venture off on her own. I have never been so happy to get another shelf cleared off in the basement...more room for more tools.

I think it does. I enjoy nice things as much as the next person. The difference is, I can enjoy someone else's possession and not feel the driving need to own one myself. I get rid of a lot more stuff than I add, and anything I add has to be well made enough to be the last one I'll ever buy, and the first one my kids will ever own.
