Cathode Ray Blues
The Philco is dying.
It's actually a Sony Wega, our only television. Big, fat, flat CRT about 10 or 11 years old. It's started making a loud pop and then the picture kinda explodes into a pyrotechnic swirl of really pretty colors and then goes dark. Turning it off and then back on brings it back. Looks like I'll be able to replace it with a 42" class flat screen of some sort for way less than I paid for it, but I have intentionally not kept up with TV tech. Not interested in spending any money fixing it and besides, there's nobody nearby who does that sort of thing. Does anybody any more? What stinks is the fact that this behemoth has nearly as good a picture as most modern tvs I see in the stores. Your recommendations please?
