To each their own right?

I went to a good car show today.

Lots of different makes but mostly your usual American muscle cars but there was a good turn out of Mercedes and British makes as well. So out of everything there, immaculate show cars, Rolls Royces, a few super cars etc.... what grabs my attention more then any other car? A little 30HP 2 cylinder Citroen van

When I asked the owner what the payload was he wasn't sure but that it was either 500 or 1,500 lbs. Based on my experience with the G and looking underneath the van I would say it was probably closer to the middle of that estimate.

I like the fact that it had a starter handle (For when even a push start isn't possible )

Interesting story a few years ago on ExpeditionPortal about a 2CV driving across Africa or around the world or something.

In a way it wouldn't surprise me. The things are so simple and light that with a few people you could push or lift them out of any trouble that they could get into.

The du chaveau is a wonderfully rational design. Lightweight, economical and simple. Pretty decent performance for its day and you could drive one across a plowed field.

Alas, my friend who gets to Europe, occasionally, said that 2CV have nearly disappeared from the streets.
What great, innovative cars.

A leetle Clemenceau-ian breadbox!

Mon dieu !!

If you tried to make a car uglier than this, you couldn't.

Nor could you make one more beloved by its owners.

Jim,
I am not sure about that. The Pontiac Aztek comes swiftly to mind, as well as the first generation Honda Element.

That car is NOT a 2CV
It is called an Acadiane, the van version of the Dyane, which was supposed to be a "modernized: version of the 2CV.
Most have 602cc engines and disc brakes, plus the 4 speed gearbox of the Deuche, the French name for the 2CV. which is "deux chevaux

I have the 2CV version of this vehicle, it uses the same frame and power train as the 2CV van.

Parts are much less plentiful but that just makes the car harder to maintain, not any more valuable.
All 2CV derived products
2CV 4 door
2CV van
Dyane
Acadaine van
Ami 6
British Bijou

are all derived from the A-series chassis Citroen made from 1949-1990 with few changes, just a couple add-ons.

That's why the Euro collectors call them A-series cars.

I might be selling several of mine (see signature) in a couple years.

About a dozen or so trays of escargot.
