Not sure what at what point I'd buy a w211 wagon, but I would not think of the % part- just the amount I would have to pay. Would not really think of the payment you would make so that I could afford something I would not buy in the first place however. If would not buy it in the first place your subsidy would have to be 100%, AND I'd have to have a place for it in my home. Now if I could buy it and resell it immediately for above what I paid I think everyone would eventually start to consider doing that, many would not consider at all- they'd just start.

I'd consider who "you" were- meaning if "you" were a neighbor up the street who did not have much money then no matter what the price I'd refuse. If "you" were my father who could not afford this, I'd refuse. If "you" were the government I'd think of why this was happening and also consider refusing depending on circumstances. If "you" were a lotto winner who had money to blow I'd consider alot less and buy more. Money is not free- and as part of the equation I'd have to know who is paying eventually.

So Bot- what are you hinting at with this thread?

Basically, your screwed on that one.

Didn't Sammy Davis Jr. become Jewish so he could marry Eddie Fisher?
Or somebody.

This thread brings to mind the joke about the guy who stood up in a bar and said "Is there any woman here who will go to bed with me for a Million Dollars?"

After the ladies all looked around at each other, one of them walked over to the guy and said "Okay, I will."

The guy said "Okay, then how about going to bed with me for $10?"

The lady said "what do you think I am?"

The guy said "we've already established that, now we're just haggling over the price."

^^^ Pretty close.

I'm wondering how we value things when they are subsidized by others and there is no negative feedback loop.

Here's the summary: the D's wants things for the poor, the R's wants things for the rich and the Tea Party wants to keep their own money and not take yours.

And I just want a beer.

Beer should be free. Charging for beer is just plain wrong.
