I used to think that too. I love my MBP. I want to upgrade the ram and put a solid state drive in it. That way it will really fly!

I can get an 80g drive for under a hundred bucks. This 17 inch aluminum is my winter thigh warmer.
Yes those 17 inchers do get hot. I edit HD footage on my 17inch MacBook pro, maxed out the ram and planning to put two solid state drives in mine soon: one specific for the operating system and applications and the second drive for content. That will speed things up 'till I can justify the latest MacBook Pro with thunderbolt.

Everything points to Apple getting out of the pro market; iPod, iPhones and iPads are making much more money for the company and don't need the expensive support professionals dement, I would never think this would happen but I could be forced soon to switch to the dark side.

I'll feel like an orphaning.

Saw a news item several weeks ago that Apple has no plans to release any updates to their Mac lines other than the notebooks. I hate notebooks! Even Mac notebooks.

I like POWA!!

If I have to buy a PC I'm getting one like I have at the orifice. That sucker is a beast when it comes to GIS stereo processing.

I'd love to have a big Pro tower, but can't justify it. A new MacBook is in the works though, too bad they dropped the 17s, or at least I didn't see one the last time I was on the Apple store page. Do you know?
I don't see them getting out of the Pro biz for a while, although they may get updated less frequently, which I'm not convinced is a bad thing.

The G5 and other white iMacs are pie to get into compared to the suction cup glass models of today.

according to the apple support community, I can upgrade Tiger to Leopard, but not Snow Leopard. Leopard works well with a G5
