a/c swap

i am parting out my 72 280 se 4.5 and want to use the under dash a/c unit on my newly purchased 67 250 s; is this possible w/o too many retrofits? or do i install new aftermarket kit? if the latter, where can i purchase?

Should be a direct swap. It's the same car, just a different engine.

You will be much better served to stay with R12. If you don't already have a 609 cert so that you can buy it, google 609 certification and take an online open book test for $20 or so and you can purchase it for about $15 a can off ebay or $30 at NAPA. You will be much better served than a 134 conversion.

BTW, the 250 is not the same car as a 280. The 250 is a small bodied car, while the 280SE is a big bodied, car, I think a 116 as opposed to the 114 or 115 series 250 car. An underdash unit is an aftermarket unit and should be easily transferred though.

OP refers to a 67 250 s, which I take to mean the 108 series S-Class, same car as the 72 280 se 4,5 he's parting out, not the smaller 114 250.

Is the underdash AC unit self-contained or are the vents part of the lower section of the dash? Either way it's just swapping parts in the cabin. It might be tricky locating a compressor bracket for the M108 and a condenser for a narrow radiator W108.
