Had a Bald Eagle on the lake today

First time I had ever seen one here. Sorry for the poor quality, I was using my phone. I walked down to the edge of the lake and whistled (about 1/2 way through the movie) to get him to take off. He flew accross the lake and settled in another tree. Pretty neat.

Bald Eagle

We have had bald eagles sitting in one of the trees above our driveway once or twice and a golden eagle or a juvinile Bald.

We get an occasional turkey vulture too. (According to TR the first cousin to the Bald Eagle).

Yeah, Why would anyone wanna live in a city?

(UggrrKKKK,we're 3 miles from the city limits,here.)

I look out in the front yard at night (Sometimes in the Afternoon) and see
deer.
I hear Owls hunting @ Night (In Pairs, kinda like SLOW Audio doppler radar)
'Watched a Painted Bunting this spring raising fledglings in a tiny little
birdhouse we put under the eave of the carport.
There's an Osprey that likes to perch at the top of a mature pine across the street.

Thanks.

About this time last year, my wife and I had the pleasure of seeing this lake on Jim's property. Seeing a bald eagle in person would take my breath away.

Very cool, Jim!

We used to get the eagles coming down from Canada in the winter. They'd follow the CT River down through VT, NH, MA and eventually into CT (settling around Essex), staying just ahead of the ice as the river froze its way south. Four or five years ago, some of them decided they didn't need to go all the way back north and started building nests all along the river in CT. As with other wild animals, they've adapted and the river traffic (busy recreational use) doesn't seem to phase them anymore. One pair even built a nest on the other side of the cove down the street from me (fairly busy launching ramp, marina, houses around 1/2 of it).

While they are a little more common around here, they aren't any less impressive! I've even seen a good mid-air battle between an eagle and a couple red tail hawks. Must have been a battle over hunting territory.
