Positive comments about Mods thread

A very recent post by Tyler 860 gave me this idea.

We (including me) at times are critical of mods decisions.

Its high time we all gave positive feed back when a mod does well.

Like some other members I have sent PM's of support to mods when I agree with an unpopular decision they have made.

So to get the ball rolling;

Tyler 860, you did the right thing closing the thread recently. This was a far more mature approach than issuing warnings & infractions. You know the one I am referring to !

Time for other members to step up to the plate !!

Even though I was given an infraction years ago, I still support the job that the moderators do. Imagine what this would be like if it were unmoderated.
Thanks

I think that we should start an entire moderator appreciation campaign, sending chocolates and an FTD floral bouquet to each and every past and current moderator. And a card, one of those nice oversized ones, signed by every Peachparts member...

I just hope that they don't see this as some type of cheesy, butt-kissing maneuver orchestrated by members desperate for attention or favored status.

I have always tried not to criticize the moderators. They have a tough, unpaid, unappreciated job. I've received my share of discipline on this forum and I've taken my medicine. Even though my opinions WIDELY differ from some of the moderators, I never got an infraction that was not a clear violation of the forum rules. I have always been treated fairly by them.

As far as I'm concerned, all moderators, past and present, have served honorably and I appreciate their work very much.

My position as well.

Nice job guys. Why you would want to do the job is beyond me, but thanks just the same for doing it.

Infraction(s). There were two handed out in that thread.

And seriously, did you expect something different?

All the mods weighed in before any of the actions over the past couple days happened from this end. That is why there is somewhat of a delay. If I could get the other mods up earlier things would happen a little quicker but that is just part of it. Anyway, I, along with the other mods thanks ya'll.

The way I look at it is if you are willing to delve into OD and lay your opinions/thoughts out there then you best be ready to realize that everyone is NOT going to feel the same way in regards to your opinion. It is how you communicate your differences that makes you a good or bad poster.

I like to think that the level of education of the members on this board is higher than the average board (facebook for example) and then some riff raff shows up and dashes that dream. Ya'll know too that this statement is absolutely not directed at any members that are currently not banned. There have been some doozies show up over the years too. I don't remember all the names but they were out there.

Ya'll would be surprised at the number of new members (spammers) we ban every day.

Let's all have a moment of silence for the late Amanda Love now.

I've bantered with Tyler in the past, and received an infraction that was quickly removed...no harm, no foul. It wasn't me arguing with a moderator, it was a mis-understanding of the written word. The written word is easily misunderstood, since you can't see a smirk, smile, or twinkle in an eye as words are typed. You can't see sarcasm either.

All in all, the mods do a good job. There's room for improvement, but they are only human, and mistakes will be made. I've voiced my opinions to them in the past, and they've generally listened to them...

I won't be buying candy or flowers for them, as it's a volunteer position. When we return to this site, that should be payment enough for their job.

Mods are a group of people doing a job that will always offend somebody, which means they are doing their job!

Nobody can be unbiased. The trick is trying to control one's bias for the enjoyment of all, while still keeping passions tamped. It's a tough job.
