Aircooled VW Fanatics?

Any VW guys? I know the VW and Benz world often cross. I'm really missing my VW's today. I had a 74 and a 66. The 74 had a 175hp 1914cc with dual 44idfs. Then I had the same problem all hipo rear engine cars eventually have.....

love em! I used to have a 74 ghia in bright orange. Eventually went with later diesels though and have one of those now.

Those are some nice cars in the pics, i especially like that field pic of the blue one.

I lucked out in that a guy moved right next door to me in a commercial condo who works on them as a hobby, so there are a bunch of them around all the time to gaze at

I'm one too! Just waiting until the day until I can buy a pre '67 bug and a split window bus or single cab

I couldnt wait to get rid of my 69 bug. That thing let me down every time I drove it. I doubt it was the car itself but the parts used to put it together are just junk.

I always liked the type 181, known as the Thing in the US back in the early 70's.

Bugs are cool; I've had 7 or 8 of them. Now I have TDi and an 85 Vanagon Camper. Thinking of sticking a TDI in the Vanagon.

Wife has a 1974 Ghia convertible and I am ever vigilant for a split window double cab.

I've always got an eye out for one. When they do come up for sale they're crazy expensive.
I had a 69 (?) Ghia convertible in college for a while. Was 69 the last year of the tube bumpers? It was that soft sort of dark yellow with camel interior.
I like the type III wagons quite a bit.

For me, at a certain age, having my face a scant foot away from the windshield wasn't fun anymore.

Dad bought a new one in 66. I liked it then but would not have any desire to have one today....unless perhaps a cab but they are crazy expensive and other things for the same money are much better at about everything.

That red one looks pretty cool. Did you lose control of it knocking the front off?

I've never owned one but I've always liked them. One (or more) of them, especially a Thing, is on my vehicle bucket list.
