Yes, I've always thought that vandalism is an indication of some sort of serious mental illness. Although it is wrong to do, it is easy to see what motivates a thief. They get loot that they can keep if they don't get caught. A vandal OTOH just destroys other peoples stuff with nothing but some sort of sick satisfaction as a reward.
