nutserts available retail?

Are there stores that sell nutserts or equivalents in 1/2" or M12 size? I'm attaching seat brackets in a van and I'd like something I can remove in the future without going under the van. I suppose I can install the brackets with regular nuts then have the nuts welded to the underside of the floor. Other ideas?

Thanks,
Sixto

You can check hotrod chassis specialty supply houses-you have to get the special crimping tool. I have seen ones that require a hex shaped hole -pierced so the nutzert wont spin. it may be easier to zap a couple nuts in from the underside if you can get acess.

I have some, but they are smaller than you are looking for. I think they are #8 or maybe #10. I'm pretty sure I can find them in my old shop. If the small ones will work for you, how many do you need?

I don't see anything that large.

It sounds like sixto is wanting them fast, so he's looking for a local supplier.

BTW sixto, if you have a mig welder you can just tavk some nuts in place. You can also take some sheet metal and form a little cage that will hold a nut, and then tack that in place with the nut inside. This way the nut can move around a little making for easier alignment.

For me, McMaster is as fast as getting it myself. I have called in an order at 3 PM, and had it in my hands by noon the next day no special handling/shipping charged. They seem to work 24 hours a day and ship when the order is placed.

Thanks, all.

Sooner is better than later so we can use the van. All I know about fastener sizing is the bolts used to hold the brackets to the donor vehicle. #10 is only smaller but is it too small? It's not a blind application, just an inconvenient application in terms of having to hold the nut in order to remove the bolt in the future.

I discovered a couple of mobility van conversion shops in the area and even a couple of shag-r-us shops (remember those?) stuck in the 70's. They might have something for me or some ideas.

why not go MB style and install U nuts. Thats how they are in my W124, if you cross thread them or strip them out install new ones by sliding them out.
