Cool Did You Know!!!!! Cool!!

I just found an interesting feature on my E320 tonight. when you hold the key in the lock position in the door for about 5 seconds the windows will roll up!!! I never knew this. This maybe old news to some people. It was my 124 cd manual that educated me on this feature. I'm going to try it on my 300E tomarrow. hope it dose the same!

I've done it by accident on my 300E a couple of times (windows and sunroof)...it's good to know that this IS a deliberate function!

And on my 97, you can get all the windows to roll down as well with the keyless entry button. Just use the driver's door transmitter as follows: Unlock the doors, then lock them and hold the button down for 4-5 seconds, then release the button and unlock the doors again, but keep holding the button and then all the windoes will roll down. This only works on the driver's door transmitter.

This is called the convenience feature and was installed on 124's from '90 up. If the car has one-touch down front windows, then it has this feature.

And I thought my old Jetta was the only car in the world that did this.... Ah, but does your lock have a coil in it, so when its frozen, it will thaw? Mt 89 535i had that...

My E420 has this feature too. I read the owner's manual the night I bought the car and was surprised to read that, so I went right to the garage and put the windows down then tried it out and they closed. Neat! Now I only wish I had an express window close like it has the express open feature.

Yeah, I've seen this in the Volkwagen ad, where the guy runs in the house all excited, drags his lady out onto the porch and shows her, next thing you see is no one on the porch and the door closing. Congratulations, Volkwagen. Finally caught up with 10+ year old MB features. It's hard to remeber what cars have what, some will work with the sunroof as has been mentioned. Read the owners manual is the bottom line. For closing up (locking) it's called convenience closing. Later they would also OPEN the windows and/or possibly the sunroof (called summer opening, to let out excess cabin heat). i believe to a certain extent on summer opening, it depends on what was rolled down/open when the car was last operated.
Speaking of catching up with Mercedes, I picked up a Jag brochure, which was real proud to state that they're "among the first" to offer D2B fiber optics system on their cars. Whoop-de-do, MB had it in 98!!! "Among the first" to them must mean 4 years after MB had it!

hehe couldn't agree more Gilly.

I like that feature, only I never use it. hehe

And yes if the windows were down, and you used the convinience feature, they will go back down when you do the reverse to unlock it.

This feature and others like it set MB apart from the rest. Technology is making it easier for the competition to catch up.
