Destroying them militarily would just gain them more converts. What would destroy them is the liberalization of governments in the Middle East. Liberal governments tend to care about education rather than creating a poor, angry, uneducated underclass that can be used by dirt like the Taliban.

^^ That is the absolute best system - but the death of simple logic and brain cells in those countries is astounding. Where malala was shot, that country deals with education like a deck of faceless cards, elementary or middle teachers are paid less than janitors sometimes.

btw If you visit there - you will find that only a certain type people are those followers, All from the remaining people left in Afghanistan, I know a few people who moved to the US from Afgh in the early or mid 80s and they had a special name for these people which I cannot remember - these people were usually no-good bandits, thugs etc.. and even when there was no war in Afg these guys were usually in prison.

Malala is waking the sleeping moderates in the Islam religion which have been bullied by those further on the extremes. Tolerance of religious freedom in the western world does not allow people to call out these terrorists who keep Muslims living in the stone age. Perhaps Malala's injuries will start a revolution and average Muslims will not bow to the NJ's nor tolerate hard line stupidity. If not the world will continue to sink into the placation mode and will all suffer- which is exactly what hard line terrorists wish for- they can only control people that way.

Sad truth is your moderate Muslims are a minority compared to the un or lessor educated masses whom the clerics fill with hatred and violence to do their deeds in the name of Allah.

Lets hope the protests and the scrutiny changes that- or allows western countries to evolve and open their eyes ...

Cite? Country?

Most people are not fanatical, period. They just want to be left alone to run their business, farm, earn a living, whatever. The problem is that they're INDIFFERENT to atrocities when they happen. Hopefully this case will force people to think for a change.

The cretinous slime (aka taliban) say that she was targeted not because she wanted education, but because she didn't support their jihadi B.S. Any port in a storm for these psychos.

And you have the governments in the region unwilling to condemn the action for fear of taliban retribution.

The taliban have it built into their name: they need to be banned.

And I'm curious: how, *exactly* do you "liberalize" governments? Even when given a "democratic choice" the sheeple of most of the ME elect another offshoot of islam (Israel being a holdout, for obvious reasons). However great democracy is, you can't force a government on people (have we not yet learned that lesson?) and if they elect more of the same, it's just a never ending cycle.

Not that war is the answer, either.

I see nothing wrong with a liberal Islamic democracy. Think of countries that are Christian democracies, and how much their governments have in common with such lovely institutions as the Spanish Inquisition. For that matter, look at Malaysia. Not perfect, but a step in the right direction.

The taliban have another face too, which is mostly overlooked, that face is that they are killing the shi'ite muslims too in the name of jihad, cleric bark or wild guesses even - they even openly declare the killings too.

When they are not fighting with non-islam followers, they are fighting with islam followers too. Very stupid.

I can envision the much of the world coming under sharia law unless the acts are undertaken and minds opened. Stupidity is found in successful memes throughout history ...

sharia law is very nicely written, the problem as of RIGHT NOW is that these idiots called the t'ban are killing people and calling it sharia. If you put this and all other bits of the stupid t'ban under a proper court of sharia - they will be found guilty in less than a minute.
