I Bought a Gator!

I've been thinking about buying side by side four wheeler for a long time. I have had a regular straddle type four wheeler for about 20 years, but it's not all that useful to a point where I don't even use it any more, and my wife never really used it much. I really needed it Saturday to look for the dog, but the battery is shot.

After the dog search and my need to be constantly surveying the pipeline project, it pushed me over the line and I bought a John Deere XUV 825i. I think it's going to be the ideal thing to have around the place.

2011 John Deere Gator XUV 825i 4x4 Review

Four wheel independent suspension, comfortable and 50HP.

Probably won't be as comfortable as my old 300E, but it should make it into a few more spots around the place.

Wow! That was a fun video! When I started watching it, I expected it to have a flux capacitor.

Thanks for posting it Jim!

We have one that is a Diesel version, we don't use it much but when we do it gets the job done.

I've never seen an amphib of any kind execute the transition between land and water so smoothly - that thing does it well in both directions!

Oh...the trouble I could get into with one of those.

When I coached little league football, we bought a Gator. We got tired of loading all the markers and such into the back of someone's truck and taking it out to the field to set up each week. Actually, one of the poles we used on the scaffolding for the announcer slipped and broke the rear window of the AD's truck. I remember one night, after packing everything back up after a full day of football, we were sitting around enjoying a few cold beers before locking everything up and heading home. We started tearing across our practice field with it in the dark, having a real blast doing it, throwing each other out of the back...just acting like a bunch of childish adult men. The following morning wasn't so good, as we got to see just how well we tore that field up.

Oh well...at least we had fun putting it back together.

I know more than a few ladies who would consider that to be a redundancy wrapped up in a contradiction in terms

My wife included. She refers to it as my inner 10 year old.

Sometimes he makes his appearance at the most inopportune moments...like earlier today, when the old lady in front of us at the grocery store farted, and I laughed...and couldn't stop laughing.

My wife told me I'm no longer allowed to go shopping with her now...

You'll wonder how you ever...

...got anything done without that Gator. I have a 2005 Kawasaki Mule and it's like a thumb: you can't do anything without it. Gators and Mules are well constructed pieces of equipment too. We also have an electric Bad Boy (glorified golf cart) what a piece of crap that's good for nothing except that you can sneak up on the deer, pigs and coyotes with it.

Neighbor just bought a new Gator and opted for the lower HP version. Seriously doubt that you'll ever use all 50hp; big time overkill for a farm ute.

I know!! I was going to spray the Febreeze we had in our cart at her, but my wife ripped it out of my hand and gave me the look. I've learned not to mess around with the look...
