NCOs in the Arizona National Guard took recruits, some who were high school aged minors "bum hunting" for homeless people with paintball guns, committed sexual offenses, drove drunk in NG vehicles and other unbecoming douchebaggery.
Their behavior is blamed on pressure to increase recruiting numbers and having adopted a "mission first" attitude. If true, I hope these bastards spend a nice long while behind O.D. green painted bars.

Odd, I have young co-workers trying to join various branches of the service and they can't get in for anything. My little part of the Navy is getting rid of two active and four reserve construction battalions, and they're kicking people out for every reason they can think of.

Probably part of the budget cutting strategy laid out by good old Mikey Mullen a year or so ago - instead of cutting back on useless programs and gold-plated hardware projects like the DDX cruiser (which would mean loss of jobs and money in several congressional districts) - they're going to cut personnel, pay, and benefits.

Coast Guard recruit training enlistment has been cut in half in 2012. Over time, that'll surely hurt.

"Mission first?" Since when is it the mission of our armed services to act as thugs within the US? Pity we can't bring back the firing squad under UCMJ.

The NCO's in charge of this bull**** need to be reduced to e-1, and put in Leavenworth for 5 years, and then dishonorably discharged.

It is true that POS Non Commissioned Officers dont get fired, they get moved. I know this from personal experiences with several medical NCOIC's that I have worked with in my 6 years so far. If anyone is a minoroity, a female, or has an unusual religion, they dont get fired, or demoted, or a bad NCOER ever. They get moved, even if they are worthless, and order $167,985 worth of medical supplies on September 14th 2012 from Fort Knox Medical supply because "If we dont use that money, we wont get it ever again"

Utterly wasteful. I've written my congressmen. This is the 2nd time I've written my congressmen. The first time came down on me for "straying from my lane" over aprox 450k worth of brand new in shrink wrap plastic vehicles being cut up for scrap, when we sent home the same vehicles that were at the end of their useful life expectancy, and also had seen some IED damages.
