Lance Armstrong.

What do you guys think of Lance these days? A professional cyclist told me years ago that Lance achievements were impossible with out using performance enhancement drugs, it always stuck in the back of my head when I was reading about him. But because Lance Armstrong was basically only competing in the Tour de France, having an advantage over fellow riders who had to ride most of the season to collect startes money and make a decent living, I thought that also could have be the reason for his amazing achievements; seven tour wins.

Believe it or not but most professional cyclist make minimum wage, only the top makes a decent living and only Lance Armstong became extremely wealthy.

Besides his cheating in sports the guy has done some amazing things in fighting cancer, even that he ruined the sport I can't really dislike him.

Should he payback his sponsor money like some sponsors demand?

If he was using performance-enhancing drugs, it stands to reason that anyone that could even stay within sight of Armstrong during the Tour was undoubtedly using them as well.

He should only return the $$ if the sponsors will return the money (to whomever) that they made using his name in advertising.

I was thinking about that and agree, they still profited of his name. But now that he lost his titles it's hard to argue that he can keep his bonuses he collected for winning the 7 tours.

Nearly all of the members of the team have admitted to using performance enhancing drugs during all cycling events over the past decade. This admission comes at great personal loss to themselves and a ban from the sport for a period of six months.

Only Armstrong, the DB that he is, refuses to admit to the doping.

Why am I not surprised?

Actually, I sort of admire him for telling everyone to f**k themselves.

Question : He would have paid tax on his bonuses, winnings, prize money etc...so what happens to the taxes he paid if he has to give back that money?

It's a bit more complicated than the above.

He received $5M as a bonus for winning his 6th Tour de France title. If he is stripped of the title, SCA. the company that offered it, has a right to recoup it, and I believe they will prevail.

Whatever the company earned using his name is irrelevant to the fact that he's not entitled to that bonus.

Regardless, if there's a lawsuit then the lawyers will win.
