'Seal Team Six' review

The docu-drama 'Seal Team Six', which is soon to play on the National Geo Channel, is reviewed in the on-line edition of today's L. A. Times. It is worth searching out if you are interested in this film.

The reviews are less than kind and remind me of the reviews for 'Act of Valor', which ran along the lines of OK but not great. I recently viewed 'Act of Valor' on Netflix and found it to be entertaining and not as bad as the reviews portrayed. Maybe I am just easy to entertain, but taking into account the accuracy of the film the lack of character development was not a negative.

There has been some noise about this Seal Team Six film in the press, and I just wanted to pass on to others that a review existed if they wish to read it.

The 'Newsday' review reads much like the one in the LA Times.

Not great, not bad. It will be interesting to watch from a historic standpoint.

I fell asleep 75 minutes in. How'd it end?
Most of the first hour could havew been condensed into 15-20 minutes. Team history and personal rivalries, if true, were not particualrly relevant.IMO.

I just watched it, post-election.

IMO it was not far removed from other films laudatory of American military exploits. I can see how, during the election intensity, Repos would see it as a propaganda piece for the president. But I don't think that was the purpose -- it could have been any president in any war. This was a feel-good film about how brave and beautiful Americans are -- a propaganda level that extends above partisan politics.

Thematically, it was a dramatization of the administrations official description. Don't look for deeper meaning.

I watched it back when it ran and thought it was OK. I do recall a lot of political furor over it, but all in all if a subject is hot and the studio's research shows a film will click with the viewer then it will get produced regardless of the political climate.
